Expertise: My most recent input into an ecotourism project was on an environmentally sensitive island in Yemen. Major international donors to this project include UNDP, GEF, Embassy of Japan and Government of Italy. The head office of this program is in Sana’a, Yemen. The six-month period was spent on the island of Socotra, Yemen. The post was to assist the Socotra Ecotourism Society, an NGO, in a variety of areas including, amongst others: capacity building, implementing a tourism development plan, building links with national operators, project writing input, prepare website information, setting up a walking trail system and village home-stays. The post also required business trips to Sana’a to liaise with the private sector.
