Subject :MSc ecotourism + MBA Tourism management & communications looking for experience!
I recently completed with distinction a MSc in Ecotourism (School of Life Sciences, Edinburgh Napier University, UK) with a strong emphasis on environmental management, naturalist and conservation skills. I would now be very keen on gaining more experience in conservation, ecotourism, community-based projects
and more! I have excellent conservation and naturalist skills in various environments (the UK and Caribbean plus I will be a certified New York State naturalist with Cornell at the end of September). I participated in numerous conservation tasks, such as surveys of seabirds, insects and plants, research on populations of long- spined sea urchins (Diadema antillarum) in the Caribbean, invasive plant control and trail maintenance in preserves. In addition to this, I worked successfully as a freelance consultant on tourism and conservation issues; I delivered a consultancy work aiming at improving the legal protection of seals against culling in Scotland (Scottish Marine Bill) by showing their economic value for the Scottish tourism industry, I helped amending and improving best practices guidelines for a tour-operator association (Wild Scotland) and I developed a press kit to advertise Yemen as a nature destination for British tourists at the World Travel Market in 2009. I also have experience in tour design and sales for tour-operators specialized in adventure and leisure activities in a wide variety of destinations (e.g. North Africa, France, the Himalayas, North America, and Europe in general), which allowed me to develop excellent skills in time management, coordination, pricing, marketing and sales. Moreover, I developed strong communication skills during my studies and through internships, consultancy and volunteer works. I wrote scientific papers on many occasions (thesis, report on sea urchins, briefing paper on a climate change issue), lead guided tours, gave presentations (e.g. Urban avifauna) and conducted interviews, and I also wrote a wide variety of creative and technical documents such as tour descriptions, a small exhibit for Judy's Day at Cornell Plantations, a press kit and press releases, recruitment adverts, scientific research works, a newsletter and book review. I am also proficient with Indesign, Photoshop, website updating and social media (Facebook etc.). In addition to this, I gained excellent organizational skills while working within two major British organizations (Forestry Commission, University of Edinburgh) in HR and accommodation management. I proved to be highly reliable with a great attention to details while sifting hundreds of applications, writing employment contracts, handling sensitive information, processing weekly salaries (50 to 200 staff), reporting laundry incomes, and coordinating meetings, trainings and interviews. This required prioritizing my workload according to urgency and importance, liaising intensively with various audiences, communicating and working efficiently with my colleagues, as well as a high degree of autonomy. Lastly, I am passionate about the natural environment and am a creative and dynamic person who enjoys learning and tackling new challenges. I also speak fluent French, English and Spanish plus have
basic skills in Mandarin.
