Eco Lodge & Spa has won both the Eco-tourism and Deluxe
Accommodation Awards, at the 2003 Australian National Tourism Awards,
in Adelaide in late February. “Though we are a small, Australian
owned and operated business, we have created a unique product that is
meeting ‘the big guys’ head to head in the elite echelon of
Australian Tourism,” proprietor Terry Maloney said proudly. Terry,
along with wife Cathy, and daughters Corinne, Kelda and Therese own
and run the Daintree Eco Lodge & Spa. Terry and Cathy Maloney
started their careers in tourism in 1978.
Excerpt from the "OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT PRESS RELEASE -
AUSTRALIAN TOURISM AWARDS":
"Australian Tourism Minister Merri Rose, who attended the
awards, congratulated the Queensland winners. Ms Rose applauded Daintree
Eco Lodge and Spa, which won two national awards, in the
categories of Ecotourism and Deluxe Accommodation. “I know owners
Terry and Cathy Maloney have worked hard to create a world-class
ecotourism product and have been vocal advocates in the area of
sustainable tourism so it’s great to see those efforts acknowledged,”
the Minister said. "
