in SMEs
Price: 35.00 € / 40.00 US$
Published: May 2003
Pages: 305
ISBN: 9284406218
Available in: English
Abstract :
This compilation contains 65 case studies received from 47 countries about
exemplary practices in small ecotourism businesses (SMEs). The cases
provide rich details on methodologies and business approaches applied
successfully by a wide range of ecotourism companies; they provide a
valuable well of information that can serve for generating ideas and
adapting sustainable ecotourism practices to the specific local conditions
elsewhere. The experiences presented in this book come directly from the
field, from the people who have developed these initiatives and who are
daily in charge of these business ventures. They reflect well the
complexity of small businesses, the great challenges and opportunities
they face, and the endless creativity that this business allows for.

Watersheds of the World CD-ROM
This CD provides maps of land cover, population density and
biodiversity for 154 basins and sub-basins around the world. It lists
indicators and variables for each of these basins and, where appropriate,
provides links and references to relevant information. It further contains
20 global maps portraying relevant water resources issues. Produced by the Water Resources eAtlas,
a joint project of WRI, IUCN–The World Conservation Union, the
International Water Management Institute, and the Ramsar Convention on
Wetlands. The project aims to make freshwater information available so
that managers, policy makers, and non-governmental organizations can
participate in deciding about water resource management and allocation.
