In the light of the 11th of September crime against humanity, we believe the ideals of ecotourism, become even more topical. In a violent world where suspicions loom large, where people are told to watch their neighbours, to be careful when opening their mail, where people are afraid to travel, where fanaticism, irrational hatred and hysteria prevail, ECOCLUB will keep promoting ecotourism: understanding, intercultural dialogue and contact, international cooperation and open borders. Ecotourism celebrates variety and equality at the same time. We ecotourists are optimists, we believe in the eventual ability of humans to communicate. We believe that people have the right to be different, to have different customs and beliefs, but we also support the same human rights for all, in every part of the world: from basic rights such as a decent meal, a decent job, a decent house, to rights such as access to knowledge, the right to elect and be elected, the right to travel. Humanity will never be at real peace, until humans, on a personal as well as social level, are able to freely communicate, cooperate, to share with strangers and foreigners, not just with their family, friends and compatriots. Or else, Human herds will keep on searching and finding different divisive issues to fight over, and mindless violence will propagate itself. Cooperation and freedom, variety and equality are difficult goals, but we have nothing to lose trying to reach them, and everything to gain.
