@BBC reports that Up to a quarter of the early registrations for the new .info domain name could be bogus. A study of 11,000 registrations has shown a failure of the steps taken to stop people winning control of domains they do not have the right to run.

@The Internet may account for one in every four travel purchases in the main generating markets within the next five years, according to a report by the World Tourism Organization Business Council (WTOBC). Internet sales currently account for about 15 per cent of travel purchases, but the study forecasts that internet transactions may account for 20 to 25 per cent of all tourism sales in the main markets over the next four to five years.

Insurance companies in Britain are planning to introduce telephone lie detector tests to "combat an increase in fraudulent claims". From next April, customers who call some of Britain's biggest companies to make a claim will have the stresses in their voices analysed to ensure that they are telling the truth. And one wonders if those who go there in person will get an injection...
