THE NOVEMBER ECO-QUIZ WAS:
1 Lake, 2 World
Records, 1 National Record. Name the country, the lake, and the records
!
The answer was: Lake Tianchi ("Heaven Lake"), on top of Mt.
Changbaishann ("Ever-White Mountain") in northeast China's Jilin
Province at the border with North Korea. The lake and the mountain are
listed by the UN as an area of special interest, as home of many rare plants
and animals. The two "world records", recognised by certificates
from the Guinness Book of Records in 2000, are (1) that it is the highest
volcanic lake in the world at 2,189.1 metres and
(2) it has the largest waterfall (68
metres) originating from a crater lake. (Strangely enough the volcanic lake
in Ecuador, Quilotoa, next to ECOCLUB Member Lodge Black-Sheep-Inn
is higher, maybe we should tell Guiness). The one National Record is
that it is the deepest mountain lake in China with an average depth of 204
metres.
Somewhat predictably there were no winners.
THE DECEMBER ECO-QUIZ IS (an easier one...:)
Sites of Art that sound
like music, 14 of these in worldwide list. What are we talking about?
