THE MARCH ECO-QUIZ WAS:
Name the Tourist peninsula that "does not understand"!

When the Spanish conquistadors first arrived at that peninsula, they started asking the Mayas : "Where are we?" or rather "Dónde estamos?" as they were not starring in a Hollywood flick. The perplexed Mayas of course replied "Yucatan, Yucatan" =  "I do not understand you" thus the linguistically challenged conquerors understood that they were in the Yucatan peninsula!

Northern Yucatan nowadays is swarmed by mass tourists whereas in the South, there are good efforts not to repeat the North's over-development mistakes: a 1.3 million acre Biosphere, Sian Ka'an (Maya for "where the sky is born") was established in 1986.

We had the same winner as last month, Mr. P.P. from Bucarest, Romania! Congratulations !
His Website choice: Benidorm, the infamous mass tourism paradise. According to Mr. P.P., Benidorm is "where real ecotourists should go so that they will not harm the environment elsewhere."...

Thank you also to Mr. Thabit Alomari from Irbid, Jordan, for trying: his reply: "Rosinish", arosin-ish, arrosin (yawn) ixi (be quiet), possibly imitating a finger upright on the mouth; someone wanted to sleep, exactly the opposite of being aroused."

THE APRIL ECO-QUIZ IS:
Despite 5,000 visitors every day, cormorants have made a comeback at this famous island, named in fact after them. Name the island !
