Meanwhile, the Open Directory got a new look, as Microsoft had acquired for one day the Open Directory (ODP) and changed its name to "GOD"-- the "Gates Open Directory" project!...

@ One more airline, Delta Air Lines, the third-largest U.S. carrier, announced it would eliminate routine commissions paid to travel agents for tickets sold in the U.S. and Canada in a move to reduce costs, but also reflecting the effect of on-line direct ticket sales.

@Two groups of researchers reported in the journal Science that they had a draft of the full DNA sequence of the rice plant - a staple for more than half the world's population. Peculiarly, they found that the DNA sequence of rice was more complex than the human DNA sequence.

"Many of you have contacted me for an explanation of the abrupt move from Lsoft.com to Yahoogroups.com at the beginning of November of last year. Approximately 24 hours following the posting of a message from the Ecotourism Society of Pakistan enumerating the effects of war in Afghanistan on the Pakistani tourism industry to the GREEN-TRAVEL list, both lists were unilaterally frozen without warning by Washington, DC, based Lsoft.com. When contacted by phone for an explanation, Lsoft.com Vice President of Sales offered the following: "Does it suck? Yes, it sucks!"
