global framework Voluntary Initiatives For Sustainable Tourism. - by the
World Tourism Organisation WTO has published, with the above title, the results of a comprehensive research on initiatives of voluntary regulation in tourism, initiated in 2001. This study provides an evaluation of the effectiveness of existing schemes by identifying similarities and differences among voluntary initiatives, finding out the factors that make them successful in terms of sustainable tourism development. The publication also contains a CD ROM with the detailed description of the 104 initiatives, allowing a combined search according to the types, target regions and target areas of the initiatives. The World Rainforest Movement has published a new book: "Africa: forests under threat". This book gathers a selection of articles published in the monthly electronic bulletin of the World Rainforest Movement (WRM), addressing the issue of the processes leading to the destruction of African forests and the struggles developed there to protect and use these forests adequately.
