About this publication

A. Guidelines for Articles

i. Style & Content:

We are interested in original, Tourism-related papers, between 1,000 words and 3,000 words, ideally with a local focus, such as a Case Study.

Papers must be based on first-hand data and experiences and ideally be focused on a place where you live or have lived or a destination  familiar to you through extensive & intensive travel. Papers will be considered for publication on the understanding that the material is original, has not been - and will not be in the future - published online or in print, and which is not currently under review by other publishers, or already accepted for publication elsewhere. Papers should include research findings and recommendations, as well as data and measurements, that are of practical use to Ecotourism practitioners and researchers, so that they can be put into use, rather than just abstract theories or literature reviews.

We particularly encourage papers that review in a factual manner, including data to back up their arguments & conclusions, topics such as
(but not limited to):

• ecological & social justice through Tourism
• the social, cultural & ecological impacts of Tourism,
• poverty & inequality reduction or increase through Tourism,
• human rights in Tourism,
• Tourism working conditions & employee rights,
• education and intercultural communication through Tourism,
• appropriate and intermediate environmental technology for tourism accommodation & transport,
• community based & community-owned Tourism,
• alternative forms of Tourism
• direct democracy & local decision-making in Tourism,
• the role of tourism multinationals,
• the adverse impact of all-inclusives, condo hotels & golf developments
• history / economic history of Tourism
• internet & Tourism

NB: We are NOT interested in articles promoting services, products, unscientific claims, religious beliefs, libellous comments, articles endorsing violence (including violence to animals), any form of discrimination or articles that contradict our philosophy. We are also NOT interested in definitions of ecotourism, general literature reviews, or plagiarism / cut & paste from online sources (we do check!) or already published articles.

ii. Length: Papers should be between 1,000 words and 3,000 words (not counting references) and should be accompanied by relevant photos, diagrams, tables or maps, depending on the topic.

iii. Format: Papers should include references, in alphabetical order of the author's surname. Any footnotes should be included at the end of the document. Papers should be written in Word (.doc or .docx) or in OpenOffice Writer (.odt) format or in "Adobe" (.pdf) format and sent as an attachment in an email. Please use a minimum of formatting. Any accompanying graphics can be submitted in most common formats, but preferably in .jpg or .gif). Pictures should be at least 600 x 400 pixels and 300 dpi. The author is responsible for obtaining the rights to any material submitted. Please contact us before emailing large pictures. All submissions should be clearly marked in the subject of your email: "Paper submission to ECOCLUB.com".

iv. Editing: We reserve the right to edit all articles due to space constraints, clarity or to comply with our guidelines. We also reserve the right to ask for changes, improvements or supporting data, before accepting an article for publication.

v. To proceed: Please send us a query before submitting the paper for consideration, including a brief outline on how you might tackle a particular topic, key points/conclusions, and what practical information our readers might derive from your article. The acceptance of any material for publication is at the discretion of the Editor. While the Editor may encourage a contributor to submit material, or may show an interest in material, this should not be construed as acceptance for publication.

A1. Benefits for Paper Contributors

i. Remuneration: We will offer a complimentary 3 Year Professional Membership or if you are already a Member, extend your Membership by 3 Years!

ii. Publicity: If the contributor wishes, we can include their name, title, organisation name, one website link and brief bio of 50 words, at the end of the article.

iii. The above benefits will be offered upon online publication of the article.

NB. In the event that the article is proven to be non-original, contains plagiarism, has been already published and/or is republished elsewhere without our express, written, permission, it will be removed and no article contributions will be accepted in the future from the same contributor.

A2. Copyright

i. Contributors are responsible for copyright clearance, where applicable, on material which is not their own and warrant that material submitted does not infringe copyright of any other work. The Author is responsible for all statements made in the material submitted. When written, photographic or artistic material is received for publication in ECOCLUB.com, the author / photographer / artist is deemed, on publication, to assign interest, title and right to first and reprint use in any other ECOCLUB S.A. publication on paper or in electronic form, at no cost to ECOCLUB S.A., the publishers. Articles may not subsequently be published elsewhere without our express, written, permission. To seek permission please email editor [at] ecoclub [dot] com.

ii. Permission to quote limited content, up to 100 words per article, is granted for online & off-line purposes, provided that you acknowledge your source by writing: "Source: ECOCLUB.com - International Ecotourism Club" and include a direct link to the article. Otherwise, no part of this publication may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system or transmitted in any form or by any means: electronic, electrostatic, magnetic tape, mechanical, photocopying, recording or otherwise, without express permission in writing from the publishers.

Any views expressed in this website belong to their respective authors and are not necessarily those of ECOCLUB S.A. Although we try to check all facts we accept no liability for inaccuracies - which means please do not take any travel or other decisions based only on what you read here. C. Publication Review Service

We would normally ask for a copy of the publication by post or by email (if electronic). We must receive the full publication, and not a summary, or an announcement. Please always send by REGISTERED Post in a strong, padded envelope. Address to be provided on request. Kindly note that we wish to conduct objective reviews of value to our readers rather than glowing advertorials.
