Awe in Ecolodges

Hello fellow Ecoclubbers,

This is my first post on this site and I have already put up a basic bio in my profile so I won't go on about myself, unless you have questions.

I am very interested in improving the ecolodge experience and have enrolled in a Higher Degree by Research (Masters/PhD) program to research this subject at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. My thesis is investigating the possible impact of the emotion of awe in ecolodges. It has been well documented that an awe experience can change people's behaviour. For example, tourists who have swum with whales or dolphins can be so moved by their awesome experience that they adopt behaviours that are pro-whale/dolphin. They take actions such as joining whale protection groups, donating to pro-whale causes or becoming politically active.

Therefore, can an awe experience at an ecolodge lead to enhanced pro-environmental attitudes and behaviours. The outcomes from this study could be the identification of elements of ecolodges that trigger an awe experience. This knowledge would allow us to proactively integrate design elements into an ecolodge that elicit awe, hopefully leading to pro-environmental attitudes and behaviours of guests.

if you are over 18 years old and have stayed at least one night in an ecolodge I would like to invite you to complete my survey on this topic. The Facebook page is titled, Awe in Ecolodges: A survey, and the link is
