We are OPEN! Here is a copy of the press release to announce this exciting news

Just south of Asilah (Tangier - Tetuan), on the Atlantic Coast of Morocco, Khanfous Retreat is the latest accommodation offering to this increasingly popular tourist destination.

Asilah, a historic port town, has grown in fame in recent years owing to the success of its annual cultural festival and more flights from Europe with budget carriers, such as EasyJet and Ryanair. The town itself is most proud of its precious Medina, which is full of charming souks and beautiful houses. Becoming a hive of activity during the peak season months of July and August, many visitors relish the opportunity to escape to the beaches or to the country to enjoy some peace and tranquillity. Bni Meslem is located just twenty minutes south of Asilah, but feels a million miles (or a thousand years) away. Here one can experience the true meaning of the simple life. Set on a hill with views over the green fields towards the glittering Atlantic Ocean, the daily routine for many villagers revolves around collecting water from the well, tending to the crops and taking the animals out to graze. Out here you will find practically no reminders of 'modern' life, not even a phone signal!

Khanfous Retreat is located at the entrance of the village and has been developed with the contemporary tourist in mind, specifically those looking to escape the stresses and strains of the 'developed world' and have an authentic cultural experience in a rural environment. The rustic-chic camp provides accommodation in three bamboo cabanas (or barakas), built by locals from the village, in line with the principles of responsible tourism. The use of natural resources from the area was central to the owner's desire to ensure that the project was sustainable. Where possible other green initiatives have been implemented, such as recycling and re-using grey water. During their stay, visitors have the opportunity to take part in cooking some typical Moroccan dishes, take a gentle hike down to a stunning virgin beach, or just chill-out in the shade. The staff, a local family, are always available to ensure that everyone enjoys a comfortable and relaxing stay.

Bookings are now being taken for this summer. A special offer deal is also available in collaboration with the highly recommended Christina's House: Two nights in Asilah (incl. breakfast) and two nights in the country (incl. breakfast, dinner and transport) for two people, all for just 2000Dh (200€)!
