This morning, Tourism shares fall and Oil shares rise. It is clear who profits from Forever War. Yet, Tourism leaders are cowards when it comes to calling a spade a spade. This is no accident, just look at who owns what and the close connections of large tourism corporations with the military-industrial-financial complex. www.reuters.com/world/china/global-markets-wrapup-…

A post on LinkedIn reads "At Evaneos, we believe travel shouldn’t mean following the crowds, but escaping them. That’s why we made a bold decision: this summer, we’ve removed Santorini and Mykonos from our offer to raise awareness about the real impact of overtourism". One does not know how 'bold' this decision really is in terms of lost revenue for Evaneos, but some ads are meant to be provocative so that they become viral. On the other hand (a) "there is no such thing as bad publicity" so Mykonos and Santorini say thank you, and (b) (as I have commented on their LinkedIn) it's better for people to keep visiting overdeveloped destinations rather than turning all 'unspoilt' "off-the-beaten track" islands and coastal areas into new mykonoses, ibizas and benidorms! Description
There are three ways to volunteer with GEN:
- Directly with GEN
- With one of the GEN region
- In an ecovillage
Read the information provided below in order to decide which option is best for you, and fill out the form below to share your interest and availability with GEN!
Volunteering with GEN InternationalIn the GEN office in Findhorn, Scotland, we have a small team who work to support the wider GEN networks. Our work consists mostly of network support and project development and so we spend most of our time in the virtual space of the internet. Because of this we are often looking for remotely-based volunteers that have skills or budding interest in areas such as fundraising, IT, communications, administration, editing, design, translation, logistics, and assistance with the running of projects, workshops, and conferences.
If you’re interested in supporting us remotely, please complete the form below. Due to capacity, we can’t guarantee to reply to everyone immediately but GEN and our regional networks review the form often for volunteers that can support with specific projects. We’ll get in touch when a project appears that suits your interests! Alternatively, if we have any open volunteering opportunities, they will be displayed below:
Current open volunteering opportunities:
Communication design volunteer
GEN also offers internships, although this requires a longer-term commitment of minimum 6 months and at this time, GEN does not have the budget to financially support interns. Because of this, most of our interns come through the European Voluntary Service. We generally accept 2 interns at a time although this may increase in time. Keep an eye on our Facebook page or subscribe to our newsletter for EVS opportunities.
If you are looking to volunteer in your local or another GEN Region, you can fill out the form below, or contact them directly. The GEN regions review the volunteer database intermittently and will contact you if suitable projects materialise. Due to our capacity, we sometimes do not have the time to reply to everyones message. However, if you have signed the form and still haven’t heard from GEN or the regions in a while, feel free to contact us again.
Volunteering in an EcovillageIf you are looking to volunteer in a community, you may find our Ecovillage Project directory useful for exploring and connecting with the diverse communities around the world.
