Large-scale forest logging by the state forest management company started on Jan 26th, 2021 in the heart of Soomaa National Park, which is also part of the EU Natura 2000 network. The explanations of the Environmental Board did not satisfy nature activists and locals which took the case to court. The Tallinn Administrative Court has now prohibited felling until the end of February 2021.
