Around 2,000 hotels in winter destinations, heavily dependent on the domestic Christmas holiday market, are in a precarious position as a national lockdown has been extended until 7 January 2021. Domestic travel between regions is banned while international travellers face a 10-day quarantine. The Hellenic Hoteliers Federation has asked the government to provide assistance in the form of strong financial incentives, covering up to 80% of the total investment, for an energy upgrade in these hotels.
