The tax is meant to cover the costs of natural disasters and is expected to raise EUR 300 million. It will start from 1.50 Euros per room per night for one-star and two-star hotels, rooms to let and short-term rentals, and reach 10 Euros per room per night for five-star hotels. Building insurance for fires, floods and earthquakes will also become mandatory for companies with an annual turnover of over EUR 2 million.
