Communist MEP Costas Papadakis points out that while the revenues of Greek tourism companies in 2023 have greatly exceeded 2019 levels (EUR 22bn vs 18.2bn) tourism wages are below 2011 levels, while working conditions have deteriorated sharply, with longer hours, no days off in the summer, substandardrd housing for workers, and 'flexible' contracts that allow employers to fine workers who quit.
