Chinese authorities, citing sharply-rising Covid cases in Nepal, will try to prevent the mingling of climbers from Nepal and China atop Mt Everest. It is unclear how this can be effected as there is room for just 6 climbers at the peak. Meanwhile the Nepal Mountaineering Association is asking climbers to bring back their empty oxygen cylinders, rather than dumping them on the mountain, as there is an acute shortage of oxygen, needed for Covid treatment.
