As Nepal marks the 70th anniversary of the first ascent of Mt Everest, the country's Tourism Board has issued a record 478 permits for the climbing season which started in mid-May. 2023 is also the deadliest season with 13 deaths and four missing so far, that some attribute to Climate Change, but maybe the permits are too many and issued to inexperienced climbers who can afford the fee? Meanwhile a Sherpa post on social media complaining about the amount of trash on the Mount Everest base camp became viral.
