In theory, extreme anti-overtourism measures could even backfire and turn iconic destinations into expensive playgrounds for the 1% driving out everyone else including residents. The more likely scenario however is that they will only have a small effect, delaying tourism visitation growth. Overtourism was putting off tourists, an improved tourism experience may actually attract more!
