Bhutan: GEF-funded tourism and conservation project launched

The “Mainstreaming Biodiversity Conservation into the Tourism Sector in Bhutan” project, aimed at addressing barriers to ecotourism, was launched by the Tourism Council of Bhutan on September 27, 2021. The GEF-funded, USD 4.8m project is part of the 5-year "Tourism Flagship Programme" and will cover the Bumdeling and Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuaries and the districts of Lhuentse, Mongar, Trashigang, Trashi Yangtse and Zhemgang.
