ECO FACES Andrew Williams, Graduate, ECOCLUB Member in Surrey, UK
Andrew has always had a vocational interest in the environment, which is reflected in his
educational
background: a first degree in Development Studies (BSc) and a Masters in Tropical Coastal Management.
His broad baseline of environmental, economic & socio-anthropological knowledge culminated in his thesis
on “Ecotourism & poverty alleviation in Thailand” in 2006. Andrew has travelled to over 20 countries
around the world seeking experience in cultural and environmental diversity. He considers education to be of
the utmost importance and that environmental management is the management of people within
environments – a dynamic relationship. As he puts it “Ecotourism is a way of life, not a fleeting fashion and
exists precisely on the boundary between humanity and nature. I very much enjoy intellectual discussion, so
the opportunity to openly discuss topics on the Ecoclub forum has been stimulating, educational and most
appreciated.”
