Ever shameless and outspoken, Diogenes died in Corinth at 90 years old in 323 BCE, around the same time with his admirer
Alexander the Great in Babylon. It is said that this was after deliberately holding his breath, or by eating raw octopus, or from a
dog bite. His friends after long arguments, ignored his last request to simply throw him over the wall to be eaten by wild animals
(dogs?) and instead buried him near the city gate leading to the Isthmus, placing on top of his grave a marble statue of a dog.
