The 4.75km rack railway connecting Strba (850m asl) and Strbske Pleso (1346m asl) in Slovakia's Tatra Mountains, has reopened, a year later than planned, following a 20-month modernization of the track and trains. The journey takes 15 minutes. The railway was first built in 1896 and is part of the Tatra Electric Railway.
