United States: United Airlines will invest in carbon sequestration technology

Added 2020-12-23

Description

United Airlines pledged to cut its GHG emissions by 100% by 2050 through the use of carbon sequestration, more specifically to capture carbon directly from the air. Hopefully this will prove a practical, transitional step to zero emissions flights. Captured carbon has to be stored, either underground or in some new types of "eco-cement". There is criticism that storing CO2 underground can end up releasing heavy metals into groundwater.
