Following protests, including by Disney's LGBTQ employees, Disney's CEO Bob Chapek issued an apology for not opposing the bill and not being 'a stronger ally in the fight for equal rights'. The bill, which limits discussions of sexual orientation in schools, has just passed both houses in Florida, with the support of Republicans, and will be signed into law by Governor DeSantis. Chapek's predecessor, Bob Iger, had expressed his opposition to the bill on Twitter in February 2022, while a letter from an employee group at Disney subsidiary Pixar alleges Disney executives have censored gay themes from animation films.
