US: Hawaii Tourism Authority could be replaced by new Destination Management Entity

Added 2023-02-06

Description

Citing 'too many tourists' crowding out residents of public resources, the chair of the House Committee on Tourism  Rep. Sean Quinlan has authored a bill to replace the authority with the "Hawaii Destination Management Agency" with the stated aim of moving from from marketing to managing and balancing resident and tourists needs. The commissioners will be appointed by the governor and there will not be a minimum number of commissioners from the tourism industry.
