Following nationwide protests by Jain communities over a Jharkhand state government decision to turn Shikharji pilgrimage site, the holiest for the Jain, into a tourism site, which would have allowed the consumption of alcohol and non-vegetarian food, the Jharkhand government has tried to reassured the community that it will maintain the sanctity of the site and review the decision.
