OVERVIEW
The COB farm in Nessona, Larissa, serves as a testing ground for self-sufficiency initiatives and those focused on a low environmental footprint. These include natural structures, passive energy systems, sustainable technologies, water management, crops, and the community supporting these facilities.
The project began by experimenting with the teachings of Masanobu Fukuoka and natural farming. It soon expanded to include the use of clay as a building material and, more broadly, natural building. Later, self-sufficiency and sustainable technologies came into play, followed by education through workshops and volunteer activities.
More recently, young people wishing to live an alternative lifestyle have inhabited the field. This model includes individual and collective efforts to secure our food supply, participatory planning of all activities in Nessonas, management of the weekly food basket, assumption of responsibilities, and, of course, educating individuals on all sustainability matters.
