The Global Ecovillage Network (GEN) connects hundreds of ecovillages and sustainable communities worldwide. Founded in 1995, GEN empowers people and communities to design and implement their own pathways to a regenerative future. It facilitates the sharing of sustainable ideas, technologies, and best practices across social, cultural, ecological, and economic dimensions. Through education, advocacy, and regional networks spanning Africa, Europe, Latin America, North America, and Oceania & Asia, it supports the evolution of resilient settlements. Some ecovillages actively engage with ecotourism. GEN holds consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
