Voting is now open for the 4th ECOCLUB.com Earth Day Photo Essay Competition. This year's theme is "Ecotourism in a Time of Crisis" and there was a call for photo essays discussing the effects (negative or positive) of the current economic, social but also environmental crisis on Ecotourism. The candidates submitted photo essays from Ecuador, Cambodia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Cuba, India, Indonesia and Thailand which illustrates how Ecotourism practitioners approach the current global economic crisis and shed some light on whether the Ecotourism movement in its current form, can provide an alternative, genuine green answer to the many questions currently being asked in the world of tourism and beyond. Half of the photo essays depict people (villagers, hoteliers, guides) while the others show landscapes affected by tourism. The photos can be seen at the ECOCLUB.com Gallery and an online poll is now open. Voting will close on 21 March and the winner will be announced on Earth Day, Sunday 22 March, 2009.
