Greece: Archaeologist active against illegal developments on Mykonos severely injured after attack

Added 2023-03-11

Description

Political parties, the Association of Greek Archaeologists and the Mayor of Mykonos have all condemned the cowardly attack against Archaeologist Manolis Psarros, who oversees Mykonos at the public Archaeology Ephorate of the Cyclades, and who has initiated official action against destruction of cultural sites by property developers. The Opposition is also blaming the Culture Ministry for recently altering the balance of power and removing archaeologists from the Local Monuments Council of Southern Aegean so that it becomes more pro-development.
