I am reaching out to all of you because I need your help for a project that I developed for the protection of two dolphin species in India, the Indian Ocean humpback dolphin (in Goa) and the Irrawaddy dolphin (in Odisha), both endangered.
These dolphins are threatened by human activities, notably tourism boats that chase, circle and harass them, and come very close, leading to collisions and injuries for the dolphins. These manoeuvres also have a tendency to change the natural behavior of the dolphins and it can, on the long term, has an effect on their demographics.
Being specialised in eco-tourism, animal law, and marine mammals, I created an ecolabel in order to regulate this type of tourism and now with the help of a Swiss NGO (Swiss Cetacean Society) and an Indian organisation (Terra Conscious), I am currently implementing the project in India until July.
In order to implement this label, we are organizing workshops for raising awareness about the issue, and giving specific trainings to the tourism operators so that they can learn about how to be more respectful towards the dolphins and still be able to show them to the tourists, but in an ethical way.
In order to do these workshops and trainings, we still need some funds for the logistical part of the project as we are all volunteers. If you are into wildlife conservation, ecotourism, India, ethical travels, or environmental issues, please don't hesitate to participate in the fundraising by clicking in the link below. All the money raised will directly go to fund the project. Even one dollar/Swiss franc/euro would help.
And please don't hesitate to share this message to your family, neighbors, friends, acquaintances. Together we can raise awareness on ethical and responsible tourism, and make an end to unsustainable tourism taking place everywhere in the world !
Have a lovely day
