My company - WST - strives to participate in sustainable development projects that have an active focus on local participation.
Our philosophy is that local populations will always be the real experts. It is our belief that local communities, be they in a downtown metropolis or a village in the rainforest, already have much of the knowledge and the expertise required for sustainable development and it is the responsibility of the consultant to become a facilitator, taking the wishes and demands of the locals and "conceptualising" these in order to create a framework for the local community's ideas to grow and develop.
This means taking local ideas into an international context, challenging these ideas where necessary to create a meaningful product that will attain a high quality international standard
