New website offers virtual travel to US National Parks

120313-naturetrailMinneapolis (Mar 08 2012) -  A new digital platform using proprietary technology, Nature Valley Trail View, aims to encourage outdoor exploration and education in US National Parks by offering 300-plus miles of protected area panoramic and interactive imagery.  So far only three parks are covered Grand Canyon, Great Smoky Mountains and Yellowstone. Nature lovers can log-on to NatureValleyTrailView.com and enjoy hundreds of miles of virtual hiking. According to  master cameraman, Brandon McClain "Digitally capturing and documenting national park trails was not easy".

The images have been stitched together from a 360-degree camera's eleven lenses for one immersive view. An eight-member team of up hiked the trails for nearly two months and eight to ten hours per day.

Nature Valley is a long-standing supporter of the physical preservation of America's parks, through its "Preserve the Parks" program.
