Bangladesh: New marine protected area delcared around Saint Martin's Island

Description

The small coral island (pop. 7,000) is a popular tourism destination and a part of Bangladesh's only coral reef. The new 1,743 km2  protected area wil help protect fisheries, corals and humpback dolphins, whale sharks, rays, and marine turtles.
