one notes that "Avoiding overcrowded destinations and travelling outside of peak season" is - supposedly - one of the key three sustainable travel habits tourists are adopting in 2026, exclusively based on data from surveys by Booking.com (essentially an advertorial). One wonders why avoiding crowded destinations and the high season is in itself sustainable, rather than simply spreading the problem (of overtourism) to more destinations and more months, also maximizing a booking platform's revenue? Because you would not really expect a booking platform to advise you to consider NOT traveling, as a way to combat overtourism. So, keep booking, but nearby! Don't go to Barcelona, better choose Girona.
