Interviewed by ECOCLUB.com, Pascal Languillon, sustainable tourism consultant and Founder & Director of the French Ecotourism Association (FEA), criticizes the French government for not being proactive. According to Mr Languillon "there are very few specific government policies on tourism and the environment". Still, FEA's director was "not too worried" about the consequences of the economic crisis on French tourism. On the issue of certification, Pascal Languillon finds it a "valuable tool" as it provides incentives and guidelines to businesses, however he feels that often the most authentic ecotourism businesses are small-scale and not certified, "as they simply cannot afford labels".
