Description
BirdLife South Africa, CapeNature and SANCCOB have partnered together in an ambitious attempt to help the endangered African Penguin Spheniscus demersus, whose population is decreasing rapidly, primarily due to a lack of food and competition with the fishing industry. 30 juvenile penguins were released into the wild in De Hoop Nature Reserve on June 11, 2021 in an effort to re-establish a penguin colony on the south coast of South Africa.
