Interesting: you are arguing in a rational way in favour of emotions! Emotions most likely preceded rational thinking so emotional decision-making is not a recent development. Perhaps, we are slowly moving away from emotional decisions. It is also a matter of definitions, how many "emotions" are there? (anywhere from 4 to 27 according to scientists), Can we completely separate human emotions, which arise from activity in specific regions of our brain, including the amygdala, from human thinking? And what about senses? The truth is that we only have a faint idea of how the human brain works. Branding, more than anything else, is about creating simple, memorable, strong symbol and quality guarantee which goes back at least to early clay pot makers trying to underline the quality of their products, to religions (e.g. the cross), to political movements (hammer and sickle), to football teams (the red and blue of the brazilian team) to consumer products (Coca-Cola), to artists ('Prince', 'Madona'). How could tourism companies be an exception - they are not -> Thomas Cook, arguably the first tour operator, is still strong as a brand, not to speak of old hotel chains such as Hilton, turning 100 this year!
