For Current Ecolodge Owners

For Current Ecolodge Owners

Since there are many members here who are ecolodge owners or are involved in/interested in managing/operating ecolodges, this survey + conference session by The International Ecotourism Society will be of interest to some. Please see the text below, from the email announcement sent by TIES on March 19.     Dear TIES Supporter, At the ESTC 2014 (Bonito, Brazil) we will be discussing succession planning in ecotourism. We know that many innovative ecotourism projects have been started through the years, all over the world. Many have become successful. But, like in all life cycles, there comes a time when the organization founder(s) wants to hand over the business to a successor. Finding the individual or organization willing to and able to continue building on the innovative "inheritance" is not always easy. The focus of the survey is on ecolodges (small accommodations located in or near conservation areas that are designed and operated sustainably). As a result, the TIES Ecolodge Survey aims to assess if succession...

European Ecotourism Conference - Poiana Brașov, Romania, 23-25 Oct 2013

I will be attending the upcoming 2nd European Ecotourism Conference (http://european-ecotourism.eu) in Romania, from October 23-25. Some of the European-based ECOCLUB members have attended the 1st EuroEco conference, which was held in 2010 in Estonia. I was also part of the 2010 conference, and particularly enjoyed the interactive and collaborative sessions (we had many "World Cafe" group discussions, which I found very engaging and productive). This year's program also features "World Cafe" sessions, as well as presentations by ecotourism practitioners from across the region (see full program: http://european-ecotourism.eu/pages/program). If you are based in Europe (and even if you're not, as long as you're interested in ecotourism in Europe), this will be a great place for learning and networking, as well as experiencing ecotourism in action in some of the unique rural destinations in Romania. >> If you plan of attending and have already registered, also check out the Facebook event page:...
