French Start-Up launches a proximity and sustainable tourism reservation website
More than 7 out of 10 travellers are willing to choose a more eco-friendly holiday by staying in nature-responsible accommodations. Green tourism activities as agrotourism, wine tourism or spiritual retreats are growing fast and becoming trendy in France. Moreover, the lockdown due to the current health crisis has pushed French tourists to appreciate the local and proximity leisure activities. It is in this context that Marie and Stéphane, both from Bordeaux, were the ones who launched We Go GreenR in May 2020.
We Go GreenR is a reservation website which offers a range of selected eco-responsible accommodations and leisure activities in France: hotels, ecolodges, campings, country cottages, yoga & meditation retreats, cooking workshops, etc. All of the establishments are committed to respect the environment, measured by a Green Score on a scale from 1 to 5 (an index calculated on the basis of 100 criteria: from sustainable building materials to energy management). The website users can also search their tourist activities in a 100 km area around from their location and get advice and ideas to have more sustainable holidays. This Start-Up initiative could meet the goal of offering proximity tourism as a strategy for local development and it contributes to make French domestic tourism more sustainable in its three main axes: reducing the environmental impact produced by long drives to the destination, enhancing the value of culture and traditions of unexplored territories and helping in the economic recovery of small ecotourism entrepreneurs after the recent mobility crisis.
