Preparations are in full swing up for the inaugural Luang Prabang Ethnic Cultural Festival, which the Traditional Arts & Ethnology Centre (TAEC) is producing in cooperation with the Provincial Department of Information and Culture. The Festival will open on the evening of Friday 29 October and run throughout the weekend of 30th to 31st.

Seven different ethnic minority communities from 10 districts of Luang Prabang will travel to the event to perform traditional songs, music and dance as well as demonstrate their traditional arts and crafts skills.

The festival is an important opportunity for rural artisans to build trading relationships with urban retailers, as well as raise awareness and appreciation for their unique cultural heritage. The event will also feature fun interactive activities for adults and children.
