A report from Deloitte estimated that the European Commission's 'Fit for 55' plan that aims to reduce EU's greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030, could have a devastating impact on the Spanish tourism sector with the loss of 430,000 jobs due to airline ticket taxes and sustainable aviation fuel costs. The ambitious EU plan was proposed in July 2021, during the pandemic and before the war in Ukraine.
