Ψήγματα αλήθειας, ολίγη διγλωσσία, αλλά τελικά ατολμία - έστω και δια της εις άτοπον επαγωγής - στη διατύπωση της μόνης πολιτισμένης λύσης: νομιμες μεταναστευτικές διόδους, σοβαρές πολιτικές ένταξης στην κοινωνία και την αγορά εργασίας, και πολύπλευρη βοήθεια των χωρών προέλευσης. Αυτά φυσικά προυποθέτουν μια προοδευτική και ανοιχτόμυαλη Ευρώπη αντί της φοβισμένης, φοβικής, και συρόμενης από την ευρωπαική και υπερατλαντική ακροδεξιά, νεοπολεμοκάπηλης ΕΕ. Το δε ανακάτεμα του προσφυγικού με τους γεωπολιτικούς ανταγωνισμούς για το κλάνιο (λες και δεν υπάρχει Κλιματική Κρίση - την θυμούνται βέβαια κάθε Ημέρα Περιβάλλοντος και μετά τις φωτιές) και τις φρεγάτες (με το αζημίωτο για τους εμπόρους και μεσάζοντες όπλων) δημιουργεί μια επικίνδυνη κατάσταση που οδηγεί μαθηματικά σε νέες Πύλους - οι οποίες διόλου φυσικά μπορεί να συγκινήσουν - το αντίθετο μάλιστα - αρμοδίους που εχουν ζητήσει ον δε ρεκορντ "νεκρούς στα σύνορα".

The Greek Minister of Tourism, Olga Kefalogianni, met with Palestine's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Hani Al-Hayek and representatives of Palestinian tourism sector, in Athens. Tourism in Palestine, mainly pilgrimage tourism - an important income source, has been severely hit during the war on Gaza and the ongoing turmoil in the Middle East. The two Ministers "agreed on future cooperation, with an emphasis on the transfer of tourism know-how". The Greek government, and the PM in particular has received a lot of criticism from the opposition from being unusually close to the Netanyahu administration. NATO Member Greece hosts an important US naval base in Souda, Crete, while the Greek shipping community has long lasting relations with Arab, oil-exporting states.

Following the recent introduction of stringent regulations considering caravanning holidays in Greece, the UK's Foreign travel advice for Greece has acquired a new section titled Camping and Motorhome travel. It now states that "Greece has introduced regulations prohibiting camping in tents and the parking of trailers, semi-trailers, camper vans and motorhomes at archaeological sites, seashores, beaches, edges of public forests and in general public areas. Ensure that you used licensed campsites to avoid fines." A shorter version would be, "if you are thinking of visiting Greece in a caravan, don't" (especially if you were thinking of turning your caravan into a short-term-letting even if its parked on your own land). The more accurate version however would be, even though the Greek government has re-re-introduced "new" stringent regulations (bordering on absurdity) against caravanning, chances are that they will be once more ignored by remote local communities having long-term symbiotic summer-time relations with caravanning, especially in areas that do not have organised camping sites or expensive 5-star hotels and villa developments nearby.

Services on the 22 km Diakopto-Kalavryta rack railway line have been suspended until further notice following landslides. The route, inaugurated in 1896 and considered a feat of engineering due to its extremely steep slopes, is popular with tourists and affords great views through the Vouraikos gorge.

The existence of an African chameleon population Chamaeleo africanus was recently confirmed on a beach in northwestern Peloponnese within the Lamia and Strofylia Forest protected area (GR2320001). It is sub-Saharan African species, whose natural distribution extends along the Nile, up to its Delta. The only population in Europe was that of the Gialova Lagoon of Pylos, Messinia, discovered in 1997. In 2014, three newborn individuals were recorded on another beach in northwestern Peloponnese and in early May of this year, during a field trip by Biology students of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, two more newborns were spotted. Hopefully the announcement will not attract the attention of illegal pet traders. Details

An investigative report on the island of Sifnos, carried out by ThePressProject and funded by Journalismfund Europe, reveals that the inexorable demand for (and expectation of) swimming pools by tourists in a semi-arid island already lacking clean water that depends on oil-powered desalination, is only making matters worse and undermines tourism itself, along with the local environment and society. Despite adverse weather conditions, the protest and solidary march against the installation of wind turbines on Mt. Oiti on May 25th, 2025 was a complete success. The march, attended by participants from over 20 cultural, mountaineering, and environmental associations, municipal councilors and others started from the village of Pyra and ended at the archaeological site of Pyra of Heracles. Each trail highlights the stunning landscapes, historical landmarks, and traditional way of life that make the Cyclades so unique.

The Ministry of Culture aims to house the particularly large number of finds from the excavations of the famous Eleusis Sanctuary of Demeter and Kore and from the rescue excavations that are continuously carried out in the city. The site, south of the archaeological site, previously housed a Soap Factory, the first factory established in Eleusis in 1875. The property then become the property of the National Bank which sold it to the Ministry in 2022, for EUR 5m euros.
