Trekking from Chitral Town to Garamchashma: started trekking to Garamchashma (2550m/8389ft) from Chitral Town (1,494m/4901 ft), sharp at 6 AM, on Saturday, April 3, 2021. Given the elevation of the destination, the ascend of the route ranges from mildly steep to hard one. It was a windy day, and the dust-ridden strong gust from the west flowed, whirled, and battered everything. But when I disappeared into the maze of the mountain to the north, so did the wind. Beyond Shahre-e-Sham it was calm and peaceful, a leaf moved, nor a single blade of grass stirred. Shahr-e-Sham is a famous destination, and both national and foreign tourists visit this place to watch Markhor and wild goats, which come down to the riverbank for drinking water. One could also see them climbing trees with their cloven hoofs gripping the branches. Perhaps they have adapted themselves to this feline characteristic to savor the fresh leaves upon exhaustion of the vegetation on the ground. The scene of the BBC documentary 'Snow Leopard: Beyond the Myth' was dropped here when a snow leopard for the first time caught on camera in 2007 whilst chasing the hunt. https://www.14dd5266c70789bdc806364df4586335-gdprlock/watch?v=1hcepkhlO_s I reached Shoghor by 12:10 AM and had a...

I agree with the points reported, in particular, that we need a different way to measure the efficiency of the tourism sector. More quality, fewer numbers or quantity.Sara
There's a general consensus among destinations and tourism businesses that the industry must “build back better.” But the industry desperately needs new metrics for that to happen.
Saturday, March 20, 2021. Trekking from Chitral town to Drosh: I had a very refreshing trek of 47 kilometers from Chitral town to Drosh. Started at 5:47am from Chitral town and traveled through Orghooch side. By 9:49 reached the Attani Viewpoint from where took some very good pictures of the beautiful Broz and Ayun villages along with Attani. Descended into the Ayun village from Attani side and had an early lunch at Ayun. Continued a leisurely journey across Maskoor and reached Benisar, the gateway to Birir, the southernmost settlement of the Kalasha community. Traveled through Shedi and a gentleman on the roadside took me to his house for tea. Walked across the rock along the river to reach Kol village, opposite Kesu, and continued traveling down to Khairabad. Here crossed onto Drosh side across the river through the newly-built jeepable bridge. Reached Drosh by 6:22 pm, after 11 hours trekking. The Lodges of the Mountain Inn are the oldest in the Chitral town, Chitral, Pakistan. They are beautifully camouflaged in the surrounding natural environment. From here it is easy for tourists to start trekking for Chitral Gol National Park, which takes 3-4 hours to get to the hut of wildlife watchers. Thoshi Game Reserve is located at a distance of around 10 kilometers from Chitral town, and it takes 20 minutes to drive to a point from where to watch markhoors and wild goats coming down the slope to drink water from the river. Chitral Museum is also nearby the Mountain Inn Lodges. It showcases precious anthropological collections (antiques, primitive implements, and other items) for the students and researchers with socio-anthropological interests. The Chitral polo ground, where freestyle polo is played twice a week, is close to the Mountain Inn Lodges.
Rehmat Wali Khan, a talented special person (polio-stricken) from Kalashagram, Rumbor (Kalash valley) Chitral, Pakistan proved that nothing is impossible if a person has a strong desire and passion to do something extraordinary. He is really a role model and inspiration for others.
His wooden masterpiece images have been placed in some of the museums around the world. Tourists intending to purchase these valuable souvenirs may do so whenever they visit Kalash valleys.

For some years now, we have heard more and more about sustainable tourism. There are many hypotheses about the meaning of this concept, and many projects start with this justification. Do you want to know what we are talking about? I am going to present to you the three main common mistakes in the perception of sustainable tourism in Italy. TYPOLOGY VS APPROACH Typology vs approach means that very often sustainable tourism is considered a type of tourism, a kind of offer. Instead, I’m afraid that’s not right because unlike sports tourism, luxury tourism, wellness tourism and many others, sustainable tourism is a fundamental approach that applies through different strategies to any tourism. The definition of Sustainable tourism is as an approach to tourism that takes into account ecological sustainability, social sustainability and economic sustainability. SUSTAINABLE TOURISM = SOLIDARITY The second most common mistake, particularly in Italy, is to consider sustainable tourism as an act, as an instrument of solidarity. In reality, things are quite different because when we talk about solidarity, about non-profit, the objective must be to contribute to the wellbeing of people, of the target we are addressing. As far as sustainable tourism is concerned, the aim is...
